CSIM MEETING | Gemma Caballé

Naia Vivanco,

✨ Yesterday's CSIM meeting was a great success.

We are very grateful for the participation of Gemma Caballé, a prominent postdoctoral researcher at the UNESCO Chair of Housing at the Rovira i Virgili University. Thanks to her knowledge and experience in the legal field of housing, we had the opportunity to delve into and discuss the new challenges of the Property Manager profession.

During the session, relevant data on property management in Spain were addressed, highlighting its importance as one of the EU countries with the highest urban density and which has 15,000 registered managers.

The main arguments on which the Proportionality Test Report, prepared by the Chair, has been based to justify the need to regulate the Property Manager profession, a crucial point for its future development, were presented.

The main challenges of the profession were exposed, involving factors such as consumer protection, adequacy of housing policies to reality, population aging, or the need to ensure digital security in communities, among others.

Finally, proposals for new functions that the Manager will have to assume as an intrinsic part of their role were presented, such as managing energy efficiency measures in communities, data protection and AI, or managing protocols against gender violence.

Caballé emphasized the need for a more solid, comprehensive, and cross-cutting academic training for professionals dedicated to the real estate sector, integrating all aspects at the legal, technical, and economic levels, proposing the creation of a university degree in Real Estate and Housing Studies.

Her intervention led to a very enriching debate, where participants shared their ideas and experiences, as well as reflections on the future and challenges in sector training.

We want to express our sincere thanks to Gemma Caballé Fabra for her contribution to CSIM, and we hope to collaborate again soon. We also want to thank all the participants for their attendance.

We continue to move forward together towards transformation!
