📚 Training on the new elevator regulations in Aszende

Naia Vivanco,

Last Friday, CSIM members participated in training on the new elevator regulations, organized by Aszende. 🚀

The ITC AM1 regulation, approved on April 13, regulates key aspects such as the commissioning, modification, maintenance and inspection of elevators. It addresses problems such as poor leveling, protection against automatic door closure, two-way communication in the cabin and overload prevention, among others, with the aim of increasing the safety of the elevator fleet, which is quite outdated. 🔧🔒

“Spain is the country with the most elevators per inhabitant in the world, with 19.8 elevators per 1,000 inhabitants, and yet our park has elevators that are more than 25 years old,” mentioned Alex Muñoz Puchol, Northeast territorial delegate of Aszende. 🗣️💬 He also highlighted: “Although the press warned about very high penalties, they are justified for the most outdated elevators and should not be a big surprise.”

The regulations come into force on July 1, 2024 and must be applied to both new construction and existing equipment. In fact, it is estimated that 40% of elevators in Catalonia will have to be updated according to the new ITC, with variations depending on their age. 📅🏗️

The training provided CSIM partners, especially farm managers, with a deep understanding of the new regulations, ensuring their readiness to implement these changes in the sector.

Thanks to Alex Muñoz Puchol and Albert Vilà Badell for organizing the training, to Aszende for receiving us and to the attendees for their participation. 👏🙏
