Yesterday, June 26, Factorial joined our conversation at the CSIM Meeting, led by Amanda Maireles, Head of People at the start-up. With an impressive growth from 300 to 900 employees in less than 14 months, Amanda and her team are true experts in attracting and retaining talent, a topic we discussed and debated yesterday.
Maireles made us reflect on what talent is and how it has evolved in recent years. “In the past, someone was valued for their years of experience, but perhaps that person had been working for 25 years and had not learned anything for 20,” he commented. “We try to do a casting like the program The Voice, evaluating each person for who they are. If we cannot apply the questions to their experience, we apply them to their personal life, because in the end human behavior is the same in both situations.”
Additionally, he highlighted how Factorial attracts people who can contribute to the company's long-term growth and success, aligning with its organizational culture. In fact, Maireles highlighted: “If you knew all the employees at Factorial, you would see that they are all cut from the same cloth and aligned with what we expect from them.”
Next, we discussed how to approach interviews and, above all, how to detect the traces of lies through the speech and behavior of the interviewees. Verb tenses, distancing language, the way they express themselves... are some of the indicators. Because, in the end, “lies have very short legs,” Maireles noted.
We were also able to learn and reflect on leadership, based on the concept of bioleadership, a concept that focuses on looking inward and first knowing your motivations in order to motivate the rest of the team. This debate continued during the networking session.
Amanda Maireles, thank you very much for joining our conversation. It was an enriching and stimulating CSIM meeting for all of us.
We also thank all participants for their valuable contribution and enthusiasm.
